The Clean Waters Mandate

Every summer, discharges from Lake Okeechobee push nutrient-loaded water into estuaries that then choke on toxic algae. Every week, golf corridors spray organophosphates and copper sulfate that leach into groundwater. There is no federal requirement that any of it be reported. We are changing that.

Three legislative demands

1

Mandatory Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Certification

Every golf course and commercial water manager certified within 24 months, with public audit records.

2

Phase out persistent chemical algaecides

Replace copper sulfate, synthetic algaecides and organophosphates with non-toxic biological catalysts and bio-larvicides such as Bti dunks.

3

Mandatory public discharge reporting

Quarterly public reporting of runoff testing and phosphorus / nitrogen discharge levels for all commercial and industrial water managers.

Your generated letter

To my State Representatives, Senators, and the Environmental Protection agency of my state,

My name is [your name] and I live in ZIP code [ZIP]. I am writing as a constituent deeply concerned by the ongoing chemical contamination of our public and private waters by golf courses, mega-resorts, and industrial agriculture.

Nutrient-loaded runoff and repeated applications of copper sulfate algaecides, synthetic herbicides, and organophosphate insecticides are driving toxic cyanobacteria blooms, fish kills, and groundwater contamination. Florida's Lake Okeechobee discharges are the most visible example of a pattern repeating in watersheds across the country.

Proven, non-toxic alternatives exist today. Inorganic mineral catalysts reactivate a waterbody's own native microorganisms to break down organic sludge and reduce nitrogen and phosphorus, and biological larvicides control mosquitoes without poisoning the food chain.

I respectfully demand that you support legislation requiring:

1. Mandatory Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certification for all golf courses and commercial water managers within 24 months.
2. A phase-out of persistent chemical algaecides in favor of non-toxic biological catalysts and bio-larvicides.
3. Mandatory public reporting of water runoff testing, including phosphorus and nitrogen discharge levels.

Clean water is not a luxury. It is the shared inheritance of every community downstream. Please tell me where you stand.

Respectfully,
[your name]
